  • The Good Trio 三人行 @ JCube
Sunday, April 23, 2017 | Posted by Jean
When they first open their second outlet in JCube, I was skeptical about what they have got to offer. The menu caught my attention, even though I was pretty sure I have seen some of the dishes elsewhere. However, it was the price that caught me by surprise that they are actually much affordable than the bigger players out there.

There wasn't much publicity on them, but I was lucky to find them on a restaurant portal called Eatigo. If you have yet to hear about the awesome Eatigo app, please go and download it now! Why? Because it helps you get up to 50% discount at various restaurant everyday!

So my mum and I booked our first visit through the app and only got a 20% discount, since it was still in the peak hour range. To our surprise, the food there taste really good! We have since gone back so many times and brought different groups of friends and guests to try out their food.

    Deep Fried Pig's Intestine

Salted Egg Yolk Chicken - One of the best that I ever tasted.

Deep-Fried Corn-Shaped Fish - It is common to mistaken them to be corn, because it's meant to shaped like this! But this is actually deep fried fish filet with sweet and sour sauce coated all over it. Super yummy!

Stir-Fried French Beans - Savoury enough that matches so well with just a bowl of plain rice.

Braised Nanping Noodles - MUST TRY! It is so flavourful and packed with lots of ingredients, you won't regret ordering it.

Stir-Fried Yam With Sesame - All time favourite! If you love yam as much as I do, pleaseeeeeeeeee order this and you will fall in love with it! Deep fried yam coated with a layer of melted sugar, it makes the crust crunchy and the insides becomes flake and creamy at the same time. This will always be on my table everytime I visit them.

To be honest, I had more dishes than what I have shown here. It's just a pity that photos wasn't captured the other few times as I was dining with my distant relatives and business associates, who doesn't quite understand and appreciate my love for taking photos before eating. HAHA! Thus, no photos of the good awesome food, but I will be there some other days to eat again. Till then, I will update this post again. :)

Ka Ki Nang - Two Wheels Good Cafe @ Jurong Point

Do you prefer Bah Chor Mee or Fishball Noodles? :)

Recently I discovered this eatery right outside Jurong Point, which used to host Baskin Robbins and Wendys. What caught our (my colleagues and I) attention was the interior design of the eatery, and the menu with had a mixture of English, Mandarin and Teochew! It is pretty much hipster styled cafe that serves affordable local food. You might relate it to the usual bah chor mee stores in coffeeshops and kopitiam, but this shop, they serve it the teochew style. Other than the fishball noodles (yea, there is no bah chor mee here), there was also a fushion element which they include in HongKong style dishes like the BBQ skewers and the braised chicken drumstick rice.

First time we went, it took us by surprise that the fishball noodles taste so yummy!! The noodles were cook at that 'perfection' where the texture were well maintain - which is what we normal refer to as al dente for pastas. The seasonings were balanced and the wholesome bowl of goodness is something I haven't tasted in a long while from other bah chor mee/fishball noodles stalls.

    Our first visit! :)

I had the Signature Teochew Fishball Kuay Teow Mee, while my colleague had her Mee Tai Mak (another kind of rice flour noodle).

    QQ~~ Firm and chewy!

HongKong Style BBQ - Broccoli, Mushroom & Beef

I didn't quite like the HK Style BBQ skewers, because they uses the same sauce for everything. It was very strong in taste and it took away the original flavour of the ingredient. They tend to cool down a bit too fast and once it was cold, it really doesn't taste good anymore. If you have tried loklok in Malaysia, I believe you will know the comparison better.

While we were eating, the other dishes caught our attention too! The fried bee hoon, the char kuay teow, they all look super yummy at the other tables! We knew we have to come back again, which we did!

    Our second visit!

Ngoh Hiong Platter (Small) - Nothing fantastic over here, except for the century egg with the gluey yolk!

Fish Otah - Not the best I had, but good enough to satisfy your craving.

Fried Bee Hoon - LOVE IT! It was dry and moist at the same time, which not many hawkers are able to do it. Together with the wok hei (the slightly charred texture that gives a unique fragrant), this is so so good! Totally will go back for this!

Char Kuay Teow - Since it's teochew style, it is meant to be sweeter than your usual char kuay teow. And yes, I wouldn't mind going back here for this too whenever I have a craving for it! :D

All in all, the experience there is awesome and I would definitely go back there and recommend it to my friends. I felt like they deserve a shoutout too, given that the food is good but the location might not do them any justice.

So if you are staying in the west, around Jurong area, or even when you are staying somewhere else with the love for fishball noodles, give them a try! Hawkers like this needs our support in order to continue serving us affordable and tasty food! :)\
